Day 1-Mekele – HamedeEla(4hours’ drive)
We depart from Mekelle on day one and head to the small town of Berhale, where we stop for lunch and finalize the permit process. From there, we journey into the heart of the Danakil region, a place known for its uncomfortable conditions but also for its unique beauty. We’ll end our first day at Lake Ass Ale where you can enjoy a sunset and camping in Hamad Ela.
Day 2- HamedEla- Dallol- Erta Al
we will wake up early and drive to Dallol, where we will explore the colorful and otherworldly landscapes of the Danakil Depression. After lunch, we will head to the northern part of the Danakil to Erta Ale, where we will witness the bubbling lava of an active volcano. We will spend the night sleeping near the rim, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Day 3-Erta – Ale to Afdera- Mekelle
Day 3: Experience the Erta Ale volcano once again during sunrise, and post-breakfast travel to Lake Afdera for a relaxing swim and lunch, before heading back to Mekelle.
